Transportation

The goal of the Transportation Program is to provide residents opportunities to become self sufficient through employment, job training and other supportive services to help residents of public housing transition from welfare to work.

The guidelines for the Transportation Program are as follows:

  • You must be an OHA resident to participate and/or¬†on the lease. ¬†¬†¬†Head of Household has priority over other family members.
  • Transportation is provided for applications, interviews and employment.¬†¬†¬†¬†
  • The first two weeks upon receiving employment are free.¬†Residents will then be required to purchase a van pass.¬†The cost of the van pass is $10.00 for 20 rides.¬†This is added to the residents rent.
  • It is the resident‚Äôs responsibility to notify OHA regarding employment.¬†Residents have (10) days to report employment.
  • The Transportation Specialist is only allowed to pick up residents at the designated¬†locations.¬†The program does not provide door-to-door pick up nor¬†transportation that is considered personal.¬†No exceptions.¬†¬†
  • Residents are required to call and cancel their ride when not needed.¬†If a resident does not call, this is considered a ‚ÄúNo Call, No Show‚ÄĚ.¬†After¬†three (3), the resident will lose the opportunity to participate in the program.
