  1. How long does the application process take?
    Between two (2) and four (4) months.
  2. What options do I have if I do not want to live in traditional Public Housing?
    The Omaha Housing Authority has a number of scattered site units as well as the new Housing in Omaha Signature Properties.
  3. Are utilities included?
    Traditional Public Housing – YES
    High Rise/Tower Buildings – YES
    Scattered Site/Signature Properties – NO though there is an utility allowance to assist with the cost of utilities.
  4. Does the Omaha Housing Authority have emergency housing?
    No. It is a requirement that the Omaha Housing Authority do background checks and landlord references.
  5. What is the difference between Housing Choice Voucher Program and the Public Housing Program?
    The Conventional Public Housing Program provides rental assistance to low and moderate-income families and individuals. The Housing Authority owns, manages and maintains all rental units offered under this program, which are located in neighbors throughout the City of Omaha. The Housing Choice Voucher program enables eligible persons to rent privately owned, existing, safe and sanitary housing by making housing assistance payments to private landlords.
