Board of Commissioners

About the Board

A 7-member Board of Commissioners governs OHA. As a political subdivision, the board members are appointed by the Mayor of Omaha and confirmed by the Omaha City Council. Commissioners serve staggered five-year terms. Board action is effected by the adoption of Resolutions approving or authorizing the Chief Executive Officer or their designee to implement policy and/or conduct business.

Commissioners provide leadership and oversight. Commissioners do this by setting and championing the mission, providing strategic direction, ensuring financial solvency, speaking up regarding concerns, monitoring statutory, regulatory, and contractual compliance, budget approval and finance performance review, audit completion, and review of key metrics including the quality of housing, services, and compliance with policies.
